This may sound like a dumb question, but we know the sound of cliffs extra pickup with his gibson and jazz pickup in his ric. What would it sound like with stock pickups? I'm very interested in modding my ric when I get it. Your opinions and knowledge is greatly appreciated.

I don't believe that's true. He played Aria basses alright, mostly the black SB-1000s but not Ric copies. He had the Ric long before he started using Aria basses.

I believe that the video Cliff Em All has a solo where he is using the stock pickups. They say on the video it was his second gig with metallica.

Yup. Pickups were swapped during Kill 'em All sessions as he was having "RF interference" problems.
