Desert Gold always looks flat in pictures. It wasn't until I saw one in person that I realized it is a gloss finish.

Sweet, Brian! :D :D

IMO (and I'm not much of a photographer), it's the lighting that matters. I have noticed that with Desert Gold, as well as with the other "metallic" finishes Ruby, Silver, and Turquoise, the angle, intensity, and source of the light make a big difference in how it looks (lighter/darker).

I think that I have an excellent example with my 360 TUR if I can find it ... ah, here it is. This first picture was taken with my Olympus D400-Z in direct sunlight.

Note the different appearance in the finish at the headstock vs. the body.

The next one was taken with the built-in flash of my Olympus Evolt 500.

The color doesn't quite look the same as in the first picture.

Yes, the metallic finishes ARE especially tough to photograph. I love my Desert Gold, and have toyed with the idea of trading her up for a Turquoise, Blueboy, or Blueburst 360/12 or 381, but when the opportunity comes I have not been able to let it go. It is just a piece of art. I love it.
