Thanks Woody :)
Kira also commented about the long intro, I emailed about it to the rest of the band, asking them if they think I should take out a portion of the into.

Much better! Vox is much much better, but it still doesn't have the pizazz it should. The "YOU CAN ALWAYS BE SURE" bit should really excite the reverb... eg: you should be using some delay lines to give you space and when you are loud like that it should fill out the delays and sound huge! The end of the song, "Please don't kill the music" with the backing vocals on the left... you should have the lead vox further back and the verb/delays should be saturated.. you should overpower the backing, right now its far too dry. Check your PM, i'm gonna send you a sample of something that demonstrates what I'm talking about. Great track, its definitely getting better, the hi pass on the bass nicely tamed it.

Nice job, Mr. Gibson Les Paul. I'm not sure which version(s) are being referred to in the comments on this thread thus far, but to my ear, the lead vocals sound on the dry side, which I think is fine. I would think that too much reverb on them would put them back in the mix, whereas with them dryer they seem to hold their place at the center just fine. Just my 2 cents worth of bias there.

I like how the bass is nice and prominent in the mix, too. (Go figure.) I'm not sure what the original version sounded like, but I'm a round-wound player, so I'm sure I would have dug all the pick noise. And I like the tremolo guitar part - very Buffalo Springfield.

I am listening to the new mix right now as I write this. Sounds much better. :D I would bring the lead vocal down a bit and add some more compression to even it out a little more. I would also bring down the guitar with tremolo in the left side down some.

Mark, I think Gil is going for more of a McCartney tone so the lowpass is doing a great job here.

How did you record the bass?

Thank you Mark,
Every time I uploaded a new version - I wrote a message here, so if you listened to it after my previous message was written - you heard the latest version.

Jeff - thanks, I will check it out with a small compression, as for the left side guitar - which part? the entire tremolo part or just the "blang" which I copied a few times and pasted in even spaces.
The bass was recorded using a simple AKG D880 (AKG's SM58) which is a really nice mic, but has no way of getting the lows I am after (cuts everything under 60Hz...).
The truth is that I am after nobody's sound, I like mEcca's sound a lot (especially around pepper's era) but I also like Chris Squire's sound. I simply plug in the bass, turn the very few knobs I have on the amp in our rehearsal room (Fender BXR300), I invest about 20 seconds of fiddling with the amp, see if I like it and that's it...

Just the tremolo sections are a bit hot, Gil.

Your bass sound is great, no need for more bottom end.

I uploaded a new version - taking Kira's and Woody's advices and shortened the intro as much as I could.
