Shouldn't that be "Needles to say..."?

I always seem to end making my most expensive instrument purchases in Augest. That is my busiest season, and when I have the most cash on hand. Coinsidently it is also the month of my wifes birthday. So, it seems that she thinks that my instruments are actully hers, given to myself as a birthday present to her. I still have trouble wrapping my head around it, but when I whip out a bass, she always says, "O, I see you are getting out my birthday present".

I've already told my teenage son - don't even think about getting married until you're 30 years old. And even then, it's often cheaper to lease than to own. Leasing doesn't cost you half your stuff at trade-in time.
I'm still on my first wife - 22 years together. She didn't want a diamond when we got married. I have been asking her to get one since then. Not so far, but she's weakening. When I see a piece of musical gear that I want, I tell her how much of a discount I'm getting and then she says, "OK, Get it!". A very practical lady. I got 2 new Ricks this year. Hopefully, she'll get her diamond next March or April. And, with any luck, my RAS is in check for a while.

Maybe I'm the only one, but I have absolutely no idea what that means.
I owe my only Rickenbacker to my wife - like many here, my guitar habit has been largely self-financing over the years. I don't have any problem with that - it's my personal luxury, and pales into insignificance compared to the other demands of life, family and the rest. I acquired my 650D in 2001, after amassing most of its purchase price through the sale of various bits and pieces. My dear wife approached me on the occasion of our 18th anniversary, with a single red rose, and the immortal words "order your Rickenbacker". I'd been dreaming of one since 1962 and the Beatles - and I ordered the 650 that night.
Recently, I've been lusting after a 330. I made the comment a few days ago that I was considering trading my 650 - and the look of horror on her face was only removed when I told her that it would only be for that 330. She understands.

I had my first Rick when I was still a single (at 1998 or so)
At 2005 I got my 366/12, my wife (then - my Girlfriend) bought it to me as a multiple birthday gift.
I got 5 more Ricks in 2005-2008 and she was responsible for one of them (my DCM) as an engagement gift!
But now - my RAS/GAS has been extinguished by that same woman, but I am fine with it, I think I already have more than I can play with.

My first Rick entered my life shortly after I parted with my first wife. I bought 4 more before remarrying and have parted with 2 since. On the lookout for the perfect 330/1997 to make a perfect (in my mind) set. Of course, my mind changes constantly so who knows what next week may bring.
My wife is pretty understanding when it comes to gear. My only problem is my bicycle habit is pretty damn expensive too and I'm walking a fine line right now. Here's hoping that perfect 330/1997 doesn't show up for a few more months!

My wife got sick of tripping over guitars in the house so she bought wall hangers and uses them for decorations now.
Problem solved.
