My first ric fell out of the stand sometime during a party and broke her neck [solemn pause]...
But even the newly re-furbished one sits out looking lovely. It is art. I could not hide it. It would cry out.

I could not agree more with this. I think Rickenbacker's and especially the 400x basses are very very nice to look at. I mean; what would you guys and galls think of pictures of a Rickenbacker museum like John Hall's with all instruments in cases?

Each one is in their case when not being played--even during breaks at jobs.Especially when out in public, to protect from John.Q. Public.

I'd love to have mine out on display at all times... but I would be heartbroken should anything happen to it.
Our cat (well we think it was her) put a scratch into the pickguard of my wife's southpaw tele, and I don't want to give her the chance to do the same with my ric.
