It could also be a contrabassoon:

Or perhaps even a bass harmonica:
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Digeridoo?

I dated a girl who played the bass clarinet for a while... Nice tone. Still prefer the oboe though.

I do not think that this is a reed instrument or if it is the wave has been altered. I have removed most of the orchestration from the snipit and you can hear it below. It sounds looped and perhaps backwards, but in any event not an instrument being played at least to my ears.

Reminds me of the whacked out snare drum in the beginning of the Beach Boys' "Do It Again".

Based on the history this would seem the case, Kenny. But the sound does seem altered to me.

Wait a minnit. The Beach Boys used a bass clarinet for a snare drum???

I knew Brian Wilson was advanced for his day!

I've often believed it's a bass harmonica. Bass harps are just SO cool to my ears. A Hohner double bass harmonica is an instrument I hope to own before I turn 20. The sound of a bass harp ranges from the Morton Fraser Harmonica Gang to The Who ("Join Together" is the track with bass harp, Pete was into chord harps).
