You may be correct. I did not see it so am unsure of its content. Forum rule #10:
10. Posts advertising commercial products are not permitted.

Yes, my mistake. My apologies to Peter and RRF for posting the new JangleBox announcement. I was unaware of rule #10, but it won't happen again.

Steve, I am sure there is some line you can go up to and be within the limits of the rules. If you're not sure a PM to Peter or Brian may help. You have been very helpful in giving information and advice about the JB. Thanks!

This may sound like a rather stupid question but do Jangleboxes take batteries or are they just run from a 9v mains adapter?
And while I am at it... what's this "pin-positive polarity issue" all about then?
Cheers
Gareth

Yes they take batteries. The positive center pin for a power supply is opposite of what most pedals are. You can get an adapter for a couple bucks.

Thanks for that, much appreciated.
I thought they must take batteries but I had failed to find it in writing anywhere, (I probably didn't look hard enough).
And thanks for the clarification on the "pin-positive polarity issue"... obvious once you know isn't it.
Cheers

Yes, all JangleBoxes come with a 9V battery.
The original black JangleBox, unlike almost every stompbox pedal except some early Line 6 and some Fulltones, requires adapters with pin positive polarity. There was a reason for constructing them this way, but it's proven to be more irritation than anticipated.
We sell pin-pos adapters on our web site, along with reverse polarity converters that will work with a suitable pin-neg power source.
The JB2 is pin neg, so it can be used with the vast majority of adapters. Our just-announced silver import JangleBox has a diode-bridge input so it can be used with
both pin-pos and pin-neg power sources.

I need to get my butt over to (or email) International Vintage Guitars soon and have them contact you. Could it be possible for me to get one directly from you in time for Christmas?
Yes, we're selling direct from our web site right now. Although it will be a couple of weeks before they're in, we will have silver JangleBoxes in time for Christmas delivery. This year, for the first time in five years, there should be no back orders with JangleBoxes.

Running Man: don't overlook flat wound strings in the quest for the tone.
I do tend to use Rickenbacker strings on the Burns 12 (even given their price, I still use them) and have recently bought 10 sets of GHS 9-42 Precision Flatwound strings which up to now I have only used on my ES335 and not on any of my Ric 6's, all my other guitars get Super Slinkys or D'Addarios in 9-42.
Do you have any recommendations on string makes and string gauges I could try in my quest for (in my case 60's Mersey Sound and Byrds) tonal excellence? I suspect heavier than 9's 'cause in the 60's you were very lucky to even get 10's, I remember using Black Diamond and La Bella tape wound strings on my Tele in the late 60's (either them or whatever they had in the shop at the time), I have no idea what gauge they were 'cause you just bought 'em, put 'em on and if required you would file the nut slots wider 'till the strings fitted... all very technical... NOT.
Also what about plain 3rd vs wound 3rd?
Cheers
Gareth
I especially must use flats on the 370-12 RM as the hotter toasters combined with the onboard processor made rounds sound too lively,(twangy or nasaly sounding).I tried several different brands, not happy with them and then someone suggested flat wounds.
4 years ago the Pyramids were about the only quality flat string sets that were available, but they were too stiff and tension was too high.
To try to solve that,I made up a mutt set mixing TI Js 110s with the octave strings from a Ric set.
BINGO! Great sound and tolerable tension.
Nowadays, nearly the same thing is available from POTR as a made-up set.
And all in one set with no mix/matching.

Hi,
I have just checked out strings on PotR's site and found these Curt Mangan Custom strings in Pure Nikel and Wound Nickel, are these the ones?
Pure Nickel 12 string set for $11.95... Wound Nickel 12 string set for $8.95... are these prices correct? It appears awfully inexpensive... and 6 string sets at 7.95 for Nickel and 5.95 for Wound????
A bit of a contrast price wise to the Pyramid and Thomastik sets, how do they hold up quality wise (if it is these ones you were talking about that is)?
Cheers
G

I ordered one set each of the Curt Mangan strings in pure nickel, and wound nickel. I've had the pure nickel strings on since August, I think. They still sound pretty good. And yes, I play every day. I haven't had a chance to put the wound nickel set on yet. I may do that just so I'll have a fresh set on for my upcoming gig. So far, I like 'em.
