+1

I've seen em at GC as low as a grand. I think that's a pretty cool piece of kit for a grand.

It's not the fact that it tunes itself, it's all the oddball tunings that makes it gold. Think if you could just program whatever tunings you want? Sonic Youth could tour with only one guitar each! :)

The Guitar Center by me in Fountain Valley, CA. has been blowing out the Robot SG's for about $800 and Les Paul's at $900. I don't know if they have any left but it might be worth a call if you're interested.

I checked out a robot Explorer at Sam Ash, I have a thing for Explorers for some reason, but they couldn't get it to work right and the action was bad, so I passed. They wanted $1200 for that.

Jason: We will await, with interest, your review of this instrument.

Ps....I also think the Robot series are one of the coolest, most progressive things Gibson has done in awhile (even if they only licensed the robot works).

THAT's the kinda stuff they should be doing, not hideous "Zoot suit" SG's and Hendrix tribute stratocaster ripoffs.

I agree Kira and Kenny, Zoot's are cool.

Congrats Jason I will be curious to know how well that system works. In any event what you will end up with is a Gibson and they are generally great instruments.

Just got home with it a minute ago. Band practice is in an hour, so I'm going to see if I can figure out how to work it without breaking it before then. Full report later.

No doubt that they look cool......but $1200 for a guitar that is proud it's made of plywood? No thanks! :P

Ah! But it's "special" plywood. Hey many great sounding guitars have been made of ply. I certainly don't have a bias against it.

+1! Aren't F's made of plywood? Not too concerned with body wood as long as the guitar sounds good.

Okay, apparently if the battery runs completely down it's very tricky to recharge. I got it home and screwed with it for an hour, couldn't figure it out, had band practice, revisited it and after about half an hour and several read throughs of the very poorly written instruction manual I got it and it is totally awesome. The neck is chunky, but I expected that after playing a 60's Rick 12 string for the last several weeks almost exclusively. The quality of the finish is... meh. Anyway it's got some amazing functions I can't wait to learn all about.
