I entered a guitar the other day on my personal list of instruments and I see it is still in bold italic font. I am curious what that designation means. Yet to be confirmed?

Brian, it indicates that the instrument belongs to a superstar.
In addition, it lets us know that it is a newer listing. It will return to the normal font soon.

Brian did you end up with that Fireglo 330 with the Humbuckers in it?
Is that the guitar?

That's the one Brian. It's enroute to me. It will undergo some changes after it arrives though.

Congrats Brian... I bid on it too... Love those small headstock kluson tuner guitars!
This one is in the registar twice BTW.
My listing has it as UE1643.... The seller had VE1643 in the listing but right next to that said that it was a 1981. My register listing has the images in it too...

I noticed it relisted as VE1643, which I now know to be yours... I too thought it was a 1982 (and only a month away from my long lost VD1084 JG 620 which made it very desirable to me)... But when you look at the numbers for 1982 the range is from 1162 to 1455 for VE's... If it was from 1982 with a V serial number it would have to be a VF to be numereticaly correct.
But when we go look at the 1981 production numbers it lines up perfectly... UE running from 1583 to 1887 in the register. When the guitar arrives have a look at the jackplate and confirm the year...

In the meantime Gil should assign you the other listing with the images being that it is no longer a collected item..
So what mods are you planning to it? (Post some pictures when it arrives).

Thanks Brian,
I will look at the jack plate as soon as it arrives and update the registry. I am going to change out the pickups to hot toasters, add gold plastic and vintage knobs in the short term. Longer term it may end up being a donor guitar for a 375 OS project that I have had in mind for a long time. To do that it would have to be converted to a 21 fret guitar and the top would have to be replaced. Two people have offered to do that for me so far if I found a guitar that was appropriate. However if this guitar is a great player I will not convert it.

Brian:
Here is hoping that she is a really good player then!
The mods adding Gold trim and toasters sound really cool!
But the surgery would be better suited to a post 1995 guitar IMHO.
But congrats on another vintage RIC in Canada! Please post some pictures when it arrives...

What makes this guitar attractive as a donor to the luthiers is that it is X braced. However based on purely discussions with the seller who is also a guitar player, (and a lead guitarist like me) this guitar is a player and so it will likely remain a vintage 330.

My donor guitar will likely come from another source.

Brian,
The guitar arrived and it is in fact UE 1643 as you rightly surmised. Could you make the correction the next time you update the registry. She is a keeper just as she is btw. I will just add the gold plastic and vintage knobs as mentioned.

Aha!
Gil or Peter are the ones who make corrections to the registery...
