Alright, now you're officially the coolest parent ever.
Nice one!

Wow! Lots of talented kids here. The little dude playing 'Come Together' for all it's worth is a real phenom. Just great stuff!
I have one playing trumpet and another on sax in my brood. So I'm a proud single father. Both have great musical curiosity, good ears, and discerning taste. Sure, my ten year-old is heavy into Muse at the moment, but it could be so much worse.

I'm getting my nephew a Bos BCB-30 for Xmas..... his dad will have to provide the stomp
boxes, but it a start for the little 11-year old rocker.
When I was 10 was listening to some band called the Beagles... or Bottles... or Beetless...
or some crazy name like that. They were all the rage at the time.

I guess I would respond that you have to try coaching some kids teams (it's all the same, girls or boys teams) and deal with some of these ego-centric and "pushy" parents .... Then try being a league commissioner and have to arbitrate disputed calls, games and championships between some of these "coaches" ...
It's quite a learning experience ..

Yup, I agree that it can easily go too far, and sports is one area where you see parents losing perspective. Last summer I umpired for the local Boys and Girls Club (10-13 boys with occasional older games). I was actually pleasantly surprised that I didn't see as much of that parental whackiness as I feared I would. Even the coaches were very cool. However in the playoffs, where teams from other towns came to play, I did see some over-the-top behavior.
Rich... were you a league comish??.... yea, I can see that THAT would be a tough position. All the "stuff" rolls UPHILL in that situation, eh?
My only point was that the little kid playing Hey Jude was simply cute and I dont think his parents were abusing him in any way.
I had no idea that Billy Hinche's sister married Carl Wilson!
(in 7th grade I was BIG DD&B fan... just another nail in my personal Rickenbacker coffin)
Correct me if I'm wrong but I think this is Hinche there with the floppy hat playing keboards with The Beach Boys

Kent, yeah, I believe that is Billy. He is a very nice and genuine guy. I got to meet and talk with him for a while at the RIC 75th Confluence. Nice guy.
