Re: Best Piece of Gear I Got For Christmas
It's arriving a few days into the new year, but here are some photos...
The guitar started life as an `89 JG 330, quite a bit road worn when I bought it: As it is now, as a dream guitar of mine. I was originally going to stay with Jet Glo, but I went for the Blue Boy.
I went for a complete 365 WB conversion, buying an ROS circuit and a dual jack plate, so the guitar is now a full fledged 365 WB/OS conversion... what do I call this thing? It has 21 frets like an OS, and an unbound sound hole(the black edging in the sound hole stands out better on a Blue Boy than plain white binding would), but it's an `89...an ~OS replica? It's not a V64 style, because the neck heel is rounded, as in say a `65 onward OS model would be, but it doesn't have "X" bracing, of course, since the guitar was built in `89.
The pickups are Scatterwound toasters. This is the first Rick I've owned with "Scats".
More photos later, probably in its own separate thread for all of the exhaustive details-I don't want to hijack this thread anymore than I have...time for bed!
Evenutally I'd like to have the same thing done to a few more 330s in Butter yellow, silver sparkle, and Jet Glo. I wouldn't mind having a matching 12 string double bound with CB in either BB, or JG. Eventually, I'm sure. right now it's time to enjoy what I have, crack the books, finish law school, and pass the bar!

I got NOTHING music related, but this stands out as one of the best presents, along with a little dough (not enough to get a new guitar, though):
