Very early toasters were wound to around 5k ohms, and the mid-late 60s say some 6.5-6.8k too.

Someone on the other Ric forum has done that. In theory it should sound like a lower output high gain and maybe a little thinner. The rubberized ceramic magnet is very different from the Alnico used in toasters. I have an unwound 7 k new style hi-gain but have not found a project guitar to install it in.
