Guys, if you post just for the sake of posting you'll get your posts deleted, the idea behind this limitation is that some people got burnt from dealing with newcomers and we wanted to make sure it won't happen again (or at least - not as often), Rickresource is a great community and we'd like to deal with our community members only, posting random messages will not make you a part of the community and might actually do the opposite...
The 100 post restriction is in place in order for us to get to know new members to our forum. It is in place for the protection of our members. Whilst the marketplace is a handy feature of our forum it is not the primary focus of our membership. In this manner, we hope to encourage long term participation and not just opportunistic new members who ride off into the sunset after making one or two sales or purchases.
In the meantime if you choose to sell your basses on ebay or craigslist you can rest assured our members who may have an interest in your basses will see the listings.

It really doesn't take long to get 100 posts under your belt. Look around at all the different forum topics, chime in and get to know the other members.

Forgive me please, maybe it's not my business, but guys, there's lots of places specially designed for buying/selling stuff, like eBay, Craiglist, etc, — why this forum? Of course, a low-rating "newbie" on eBay selling (or even buying) pricey stuff won't get much trust from potential buyers (sellers), but believe me, it'd be exactly the same here. People don't change just because they simply move from one website to another. Besides, saying that you came here for buying/selling alone and want to get permission ASAP won't get you more trust from fellow members... no offense meant.

Well, I HAVE been a denizen of the MFR forum for several years. I HAVE been a Rick owner since 1983. I HAVE met Jeff. I don't really consider myself a "newbie." I just felt that I would "rather" try to sell them here. The market out there BLOWS right now!!! No offense taken, but this seem like the most logical choice to sell a Rickenbacker!!! Frankly, I would allow newbies to "sell" , but restrict the "buying" opportunities to more seasoned members!!
I think your point about selling a Rick here is a good one, you'll definitely get more serious interest. Of course, a lot of people on this forum also watch ebay rather religiously as well.
Allowing new members to sell can have the same problems as buying. Someone could join with the intention of scamming, just taking the money and never delivering the goods. And yeah, that can happen anywhere, it's even possible that someone with 100 or even 1000 posts might do this. But, unless someone is a complete pathological liar, and good at it, it's fairly easy to get a general idea of someone's character after seeing how they post for a while.
I don't think there is anything that says you can't mention that you are looking for something or have something to sell in one of the other forum sections. For instance, you could, in the guitars section say, "Hey, I've got a Fireglo 360 I want to sell, but I'm too new to list in the market place section."
I guess it's an attempt to make the marketplace section a bit safer, in general, if something is for sale there, we all tend to think there won't be any sort of problems. Unfortunately, this makes it more difficult for new members who legitimately want to buy or sell something.

David: Your point is taken. While you wait for the Marketplace to open up for you, the Appraisals section has been opened for new members where the value of their instrument and a discussion regarding its features can be discussed. This is a community service the RRF is happy to provide and may bridge the gap until your posts reach the 100 mark.
