I haven't had even the slightest cold in well over a year. I have one now that's making up for it and is just wipin' the streets with me!!

Well, I must have gotten mine from you, then!

I knew I'd bring something home with me from So Cal.

Tony, that's quite a contraption - but it does kind of make your spine compress just looking at it. Maybe it should come with a couple of kneeling nubile maidens and you could rest it their shoulders as you play. I wondered about the knobs between the two basses though. Seems like you would always be hitting them as you're playing. "Windmilling" is a pretty important part of good fretless technique and showmanship (all the cool guys do it) and it requires an unobstructed space to do it well

.

I wouldn't have that problem as my fretless windmilling usually takes place around the 15 "fret" position. Yes, showmanship is extremely important in playing a fretless bass in front of an audience, that way they
never hear the out of tune playing!

Why else would Jaco have been so important in the history of fretless bass?

Yep, if you make it weird enough, fast enough and out of tune enough, they'll just think you're playing jazz and a true innovator.
