There might be a few dicey areas you'd have to drive through. But otherwise, it's not like you'd be driving a car anyone would notice.

I'd never drive it and expect to arrive alive, though there supposedly is a road in there somewhere...it's about 6000 miles, most of it on unpaved roads.

To get it back, I'd have to ship it by boat up to an East coast port and thence by train to SF, or pay an extra fee and ship it through the Panama Canal to Oakland, where it would sit on the docks in its container, paying daily storage, until Customs cleared it. We'll probably choose the East Coast option.

Surprisingly, the paperwork on this end is easy, as it's well over 30 years old and exempt from safety and smog laws. On the Brasil end, however, it's tough to export an old car, but can be done. The director of the local port is the brother of a local and nationally-known automotive journalist and collector, who in turn is a good friend who wrote about the car for a number of print outlets. Once the container is on the boat, we could breathe a sigh of relief.

Paul I tried a couple of times to vote but no go. I can't seem to get past the login stage. I see some of my other countrymen got through............they must have connections. I hope you get to bring your car home. It would be great if you won because that would certainly put a dent in the cost.

One would think this would cost every bit of 5K. Hope it comes through for you, and the car arrives safe and sound.
Unlike Frank Martin (of the Martin's of Nazareth, PA) who shipped a number of cars including a Mercedes "Gullwing", but never saw them. They were coming to the States on the Andrea Doria.
