Allen, I would make the assumption that you can use the same rear #6 x 3/4 OV PH

I believe Pat is right. When I added the two end screws to my 5-screw black tailpiece I realized they sit higher off the wood when tight and would need to be long to bite enough maple to be effective. That is what I did.

p/n 05210 SCREW TAP 4 x 3/8 OV PH GOLD (Pickguard) not cheap Ric boutique $2.55 ea
sorry for the confusion

this is absolutely correct, verified by exploded diagrams of the 4003, and on the phone with a RIC service guy, and by my bass 1988 4003 serial number B1-9586
so, PG and TRC verified (guilty as charged, I'm crazy...hehehhe)

tallpat1 wrote:more info for you the tailpiece screw sizes 2 rear #6 x 3/4 OV PH front 3 #6 x 5/8 OV PH
the TAILPIECE on mine, all 5 of these screws are TAP #6 x3/4 OV PH---the rear 2 and the front 3 are the same
AND AND AND I have the two extra TAP #6 x 1 inch OV PH to fight the tail lift..anti-tail lift screws add on some models in the late 80's
tallpat1 wrote:jack plate / bridge pickup plate screws are the same #3 X 3/8 as the TRC

on mine, the JACK PLATE are a total hack. (will put TRC screws TAP #3 x 3/8 RD PH)
the BRIDGE PICKUP PLATE are PAN, -panhead- not RD -round- as the TRC (TAP#3 x 3/8 RD PH)
and the PG are TAP #4 x 3/8 OV PH ...that is true.
and-----the TUNERS are PAN as well, what should those be? not a big deal, I have these 16 screws coming with the GOLD hipshot tuners....
but what should those be, anyway?
allen
how about this....I think there is only ONE round TRC---they all look like PAN panheads to me
like this....the TRC look all PAN, except one ROUND
the bridge PUP surround looks like all PAN
the tuners , all 16 screws, look like all PAN
forget the JACK PLATE, it is a total hack , tap 3's rounds, but not correct..very skinny -so I will replace all four of those.
making any sense? clear as mud, right?

tallpat1 wrote:Bass neck pickup screws are 4-40 X 5/8 round headed machine screws (mounts/adjusts the bass neck pickup)
measured these on my bass.... 4-40 x 1/2, and that is what the ric service guy said, and the part that is on the boutique site.... is screw M/S 4-40 x 1/2 PAN PH sku 05112
NECK PUP ADJ verified

and the BRIDGE PUP ADJUSTING BOLTS are M/S 10-32 x 1 1/4 RD PH sku 05106
so far
TRC
PG
NECK PUP ADJUST
BRIDGE PUP ADJUST3
BRIDGE 3 under 2 rear (same on my 1988 4003)
BRIDGE ANTI-TAIL LIFT 2 (cant find a ric part #for this, but it does measure Tap #6 x 1 inch
these all verify
the only 3 things I need to be sure of---and alot of people told me the part numbers, but I want to be sure......are these LAST THREE ITEMS
TUNER MOUNTING (these come with the hipshots anyway,so)
BRIDGE PICKUP SURROUND--have been told these are TRC round screws
JACK PLATE INPUT JACK----have been told these are TRC round screws
so, I think I got it.....gonna order some parts from the ric site, ordered stuff from ebay, and just want to over all improve the appearance of my 22 year old bass....
even if it means just a little more "BLING" hahahhahahahaha
will take photos as the stuff comes in

You could probably have all screws and existing hardware gold plated quite cheaply if you really wanted to 'bling-it-up' properly....

tru
that brings up the question , what plating ---chrome or black-- was on the original hardware?
remember ... orig my bass was a jg/bt........1988 4003 ... were the screws chrome or black on this model>?
cuz mine are mostly black so maybe someone rattle canned them!
hmmmm
