Hey Mario, congrats, the Cii is a wicked bass, I am absolutey a lover of the 4004's, Thanks to Joey Vasco and Chris Clayton's influence of trying one of these, I first bought a 2008 Cii, I had no trouble with the width of the neck at all, my only dislke at first was that it only had one volume and one tone control for both Pick ups, but thanks to tthe skill and talent of Mr Chris Clayton, I had the stacked knob modification done on it, and the bass it truely my favorite of all the Ric basses, I purchased a 2008 Larado and 2009 Larado as well, my 4003's since acquireing the 4004's see very, very little playing time , the 4004's definitly rule the Ric side of my arsenal, my C64 and V63 see more playing timethan the 4003;s but still not as much as my 4004's,the 4004's have more of a traditional bass sound which is what I prefer, they are like my Fenders on steriods.

cjj wrote:Yup, 4004s are great! I've got a 4001, two 4003s and a 4004Cjj (it used to be a 4004Cii). If the 4004 has any failing, it's the lack of individual volume and tone controls for each pickup, oh, and for a Ric-O-Sound junkie like me, only mono output.

Of course, those issues can be easily overcome...

Opps I meant to mention that is a gorgeous mapleglo Cii Cjj, Isee we think alike, we both had the stack knob mod done, I personally think that this mod should be the standard set up on this bass right out of the factory.

Mine's got a few more mods too, along with the stacked knobs, I've got selectable Ric-O-Sound, switcheable vintage tone for each pickup and switches for splitting the HB-1's to single coils...

One of these days, it'll probably sprout a third pickup too...

Thank you all!
This week-end I will test it with my band in Motorhead's style.

I agree too.

Played my Ci again Sunday at the weekly get-together. Sounded awesome. Another benefit (I use an Ampeg SVT-2 with huge trannies) was realizing at one point while figuring out a song I was up against the amp and there was no loud hum - there was no hum at all. My V63 that I used the week before hummed anywhere within a couple feet of the head. This bass is really growing on me.

One of these days I'm gonna get a pair of HB-1's to try out on a 4003S.

When I played your Ci at MARF, I thought it sounded/played great. I'd be playing it all the time if I had one. My Cii's have been getting alot of playing time. I think they will be my main basses in my new band.

Probably sound a lot like a Laredo. If you do, don't forget to change the pot values.
