Welcome!
I always argue it is the Rickenbacker that owns you!

I agree. Especially as the Rickenbacker chooses you...

Unless the guitar or bass is their fave shade of nail polish, I don' think they'll even notice if you have more than one; just hide the cases in different places and she'll never know you have more than one. If she sees more than one case in one place at one time, say you picked it up for a fellow forum member, grab some cardboard and foam peanuts, and pretend to start packing it up for shipping.

But I would never, never discourage my husband from buying a new Ric, because I'm the one who enjoys playing them! And of course in return I let him buy a new shotgun, rifle, or fishing rod whenever he wants to.

It's not official until you remove the "Made in USA" sticker!

:D Don't have to; single. But on more than one occasion, I've had a brand new guitar hanging on my shoulder when one of my roomies has walked into the room, and she didn't even notice it was a different guitar. On one occasion, I was playing my "new" 481/6, with the 381/12 right behind it in a stand, and my then roomie Danielle still didn't notice. She's marrie dto my fellow SFD guitarist Jayme, so he could probably get away with a few guitar purchases before she'd notice. :D

technically, you're a Rick owner as soon as you physically take posession of one, then slowly it takes posession of you, then once you start selling off all your other guitars to buy another Rick, Its pretty much official you are a Rick owner,, My Girlfriend actually got more excited about me finally getting my last Rick, (2 years on order) than I did, :D :D

It depends, if it's a 12 string then it isn't official until you've changed the strings all by yourself.

I'm going to tell Danielle you posted that! You might have to baby sit a few times to make up!

I'm going to say it happens when you discover that the Ric you own (that you pined over forever and finally got) does not, in fact, cover all the bases, and you realize that you need another Ric model (which to virtually everyone else in your life is totally similar).

well, i've made strides! the man in the brown truck delivered my new fg 360 yesterday p.m.

after a suitable wait for warmup, i gazed upon the incredible beauty and played it!

i can deal with the "thin" neck.

a pic or two later so y'all will believe that it really happened!
