i just dig having the ric from the standpoint of the "ric mystique" and the fact that rics are a part of americana. plus, it's fun to play and sounds great!
in fact, the only non-usa made piece of gear i have is my fender superchamp xd amp. when i got back into guitar last year after a many year layoff, i made it my business to buy only american stuff, the amp notwithstanding. started with a gibbie es-335. now, several mia fenders, gibsons, and t-style/s-style customs later, i'm in the rickenbacker club!
