I sell items for a Canadian company.
When something needs fixing or updating, we make SURE they put "Canadian goods returned for repair" and always use the mail system, normally Express Mail or Priority Air if no big rush is involved. If sent by courier, the fees are incurred which we must pass on to the customer.
Have them use Canadian Post to ship to you. They could put "US Goods returned for repair" just to make things clear it is made in the USA and going to a US entity for use.
One customer was out of the country and wanted her gear updated. She had her mom mail it so it would be done when she returned and needed to use it. Her mom went to one of those postal outlets and they convinced her FedEx was much better than USPS despite the fact that we had insisted she return the item using the mail. Our company then had to pay the taxes, which were then passed on to her. The whole upgrade was less than $100 and taxes something like $225. Mom then went back and raised heck to no avail with the idiots at the postal outlet. So no one was very happy.
Have the seller send it Canadian Express Post insured. Do NOT use a courier.
Best,
Manta
