I must say I have never understood the craziness that sparked $200K 'Bursts and $75K Strats. Whether that craziness persists or not is, to me, not the issue. The issue is whether vintage guitars in general, and Ricks in particular, will appreciate in value over time. I think the quality and relative scarcity of vintage Ricks bodes well for their future value. As David notes, will there be a $100K Rick? Probably not any time soon. But that to me not the measure of a trend in appreciated value.

On a somewhat related topic, I believe that Rick basses and guitars are enjoying increasing popularity these days among emerging musicians, which also bodes well for maintaining interest in the Rick brand. As Collin notes, the young folks will be growing older, too. Perhaps as time goes on they will value and want to acquire the older Ricks.
