One of the most memorable music evenings I ever spent was in a bar in Salinas, CA when I just happened to be in there and Neil just happened to come down from the Santa Cruz area to try out his new Bluenotes material in early 1988. I stood 10-15 feet away while Neil and that Bluenotes band wailed for about 2 hours. Then he left. What a night!

I learned to play from Neil Young records (after learning chords from Beatle records). Can't get enough. Saw him live twice.

I liek a lot of Neil Young albums but "Comes A Time", mentioned once before, is one of my favorites. I also recently got "This Notes For You" which was done with The Bluenotes. It was a surprisingly good pick up from the used CD section.

Because I'm a rocker, I like Neil's electric grunge better than the acoustic stuff. My choice would be "Rust Never Sleeps" and "Weld." I'm also a huge Buffalo Springfield fan, so I would recommend all three albums and perhaps even the box set.

I comPLETELY agree, except,....I liked Last Trip To Tulsa.... what....EVER.....After the Goldrush is a masterpiece....my actual TOTAL faves are his very first one with the spooky cover of his face (Old Laughing Lady....WOW), and Everybody Knows This is Nowhere......a bit too much THC in Harvest, but good nevertheless

Neil's songwriting is beyond words.....and his words are great..... 8)

..........in AFTERTHOUGHT....I gotta say....I bought a copy of Decade, Neil's compilation album with almost everything he's ever recorded......I listened to it for 2 hours one day, and got so depressed, I locked it up in my dresser drawer, and it has been there for 3 years.......I have no explanation.......true story .....I had to listen to Todd Rundgren and The Byrds for 3 days straight before I could take sustenance.....my wife almost called a bamalance.......well, that part is stretched....but I did go into a MAJOR funk after high doses of Neil Young......his music was so much a part of the worst time of my young life, 1968-1971, and I had forgot that... :(

I'm thinking of Suzanna Hoffs right now....yessssssss....that's better....... :D  8)
