Re: 360 - Surprise Inside
P.S. Just checked out your MySpace, and if that's your 360 on those songs -- then I agree, your 360 sounds really good. Better than mine!
Thanks for checking out the myspace.
Oddly enough, my 360 doesn't seem to get on very well with our recording desk. The Ricks on those songs are either my 2008 330, 1987 610 or the 12 strings are either my 381 or 2004 360. I am sorry to say (!!) that there are 4 songs on there without a Rickenbacker in at all as they were recorded before I had any 6 string Ricks. Bev's Tele sounds rather Rick-like on some songs and I played my Strat!!
I usually play my 74 360 when we play gigs, hence you can see it in the video on the front page. It does sound fab, so I am not sure why you feel yours doesn't quite "have it". I didn't think there was a difference in the build style of those two years. Interesting.

Re: 360 - Surprise Inside
My gut feeling is that the red writing was factory, and the "outlining" was done by someone who had one too many brownies, took their guitar apart one night, and traced around the red. Could be worse!
Re: 360 - Surprise Inside
I could go for some of those brownies.

Songs without Rics??? Shocking!Rickygirl wrote:I am sorry to say (!!) that there are 4 songs on there without a Rickenbacker in at all as they were recorded before I had any 6 string Ricks.
I'm not sure the difference is entirely based on the model year... could be amp-related. Yours definitely sounds good, and I'm just now learning with mine, it gets on MUCH better with certain amps. Last night, through a Princeton Reverb reissue, I was enjoying the 360 more than I ever have. And the 330 didn't sound quite right!I usually play my 74 360 when we play gigs, hence you can see it in the video on the front page. Re: 360 - Surprise Inside
Thanks Brad!! I play through a Fender Hotrod Deluxe White Lightning and I love the sound it makes. I use a small amount of drive, but nothing else.
Yes, of course, the amp would make a difference, that makes sense!! How dim of me.
It took me ages and rather an annoying amount of money wasted before I eventually splashed out on this amp. Still, I suppose learning the hard way is the best......

Kind of like looking for the right spouse/companion, eh?Rickygirl wrote:I suppose learning the hard way is the best......

Except that your amp won't fool around on you behind your back ...jps wrote:Kind of like looking for the right spouse/companion, eh?Rickygirl wrote:I suppose learning the hard way is the best......

Hmmmm... OK, there's my next experiment. I've had this 360 for a looooonng time; back to the days when I only had one amp. Now, as luck would have it, I have a few different amps I can try -- including a Hotrod.Rickygirl wrote:I play through a Fender Hotrod Deluxe White Lightning and I love the sound it makes.
Maybe that's the winning combination. I know for sure I haven't tried that yet!
Re: 360 - Surprise Inside
Rickenbacker guitars and Fender amplifiers are a perfect, perfect match.

Sure will!
Last night I got as far as trying the 360 in the Fender Blues Jr. -- that sounded real nice.
