The Rickenbacker site says the body width is 38.1 cm (15'')...
Would this jive with the late 60's measurement?

I wouldn't count on it. There was, and is, lots of handwork, although new 360s are CNDd to shape and size, the old ones were band sawed and pin-routed. A fair amount of variation is normal.

In fact, nobody's going to notice the 1/16" missing from the edge of yours.

I measured the back of my 1967 360-12 and the body width at the widest part is a tad over 15", I would say add 1/32". As Paul said, these width measurements from the '60s will likely vary from guitar to guitar.

Well, it might be more like an 1/8" (1/16" x 2), but yeah, good point...

The black will cover any added wood, so that gives me a little leeway.....

I wouldn't waste time adding any wood. Just rout the rabbet as I describe. Then you can finish it in any color you like...a JG finish on most vintage Rick hollowbodies is usually a dead giveaway that something's amiss under the paint.

Yup.


I've made tracings of damn near every vintage 330 or 360 shaped Ric body I've had and none of them were 100% exact matches over the years.
