yes, so many have had an influence in the playing of guitar, from Segovia to Vaughn. Even Roger McGuinn changed guitar playing. Each with their own contribution. Being a guitarist is good

Agreed that EVH changed the face, but was it for the better? To me, he's one hit of crystal meth short of becoming Yngwie. But the first album did turn heads when it came out when I was 15 (emphasis on impressionable youth).
In any case, if you put Clapton, Page and EVH in a room with Django, Segovia, Hendrix, Grant Green, Kenny Burrell, Roy Clark or Chet Atkins, you couldn't bring enough changes of clean underwear to maintain any level of dignity.

The person that first spray painted "Clapton Is God', could not spell. He meant to say "Clapton is Good".
