wints wrote:"Fixing a Hole" would probably seem the most appropriate at present. "Michelle" would always be well received, and, for the rest of us trying to make the world a better place, "We Can Work it Out".

Excellent post, Andy!

You may not have noticed, but, there's a hole in the Gulf Of Mexico at present that is cause for consternation...

I'm steerin' clear of the politics (except to say I consider Paul's remarks to be his finest moment since he played on top of that building with those other Liverpool guys...only my opinion OF COURSE, but this ranks right up there with "...just rattle your jewelry..." and a few others I won't repeat here).

But on the subject of which song, why not...oh, help me out here...you know, that one that goes "...You were only waiting for this moment to arrive..."

What's the name of that one again?
I didn't get where I am today by being on time...

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise,

Yes, I suppose Paul was showing his witty side last night. Yet I don't recall anyone being personally offend by John Lennon's remarks of "rattle your jewelry". Very different comments,.....very.

Too bad he felt the need to unnecessarily insult someone publicly (a former President of the country honoring him).

(btw, McCartney is my all time fav musician).

Interesting comments all......

How about Paul commenting in his long career - "It"s been a hard day's night."

Also steering clear of the political side, and considering the occasion and location, I'd have gone with "Yesterday" from his Beatle catalogue and either "Pipes Of Peace" "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey" from his solo years. But if it was based on what I wanted to hear personally, it would be "Oh Darling" and "Let Me Roll It" with Paul playing bass on both. ;)

This thread like a similar thread in The Beatles section (that I deleted for getting political and for other rule violations, external links etc) has run its course. I have locked it avoid any further lack of control by posters who posted on both threads.
