In TV that guy - Verbeek - really looked like seven days rain, he really didn't look like an optimistic, enthusiastic man, who would be able to bring out the best of the socceroos. They have a player - Kennedy - who it is said that he should play.......

Absolutely, Alex! Josh Kennedy would be our number one striker at the moment and Verbeek didn't even have him out of his track suit the other night.
The guy is one of the top scorers in the J League and Verbeek puts a defender up there..... go figure!!

Yup, the 'Roos were bad, and not helped by the Mex Ref who can't tell yellow from red. Still early days though, and much can still happen...
The local beer house was mixing espresso with stout this last Sat, at 7.30 in the morning, to get the mind and bodies ready for a proper 12 hour stint. Good to see a few American fans trying it as well. By the time I got in at midnight, it had been quite a day, and, coupled with the 100F heat index, meant I had quite the headache as well...

Howard, how I wished the socceroos would have beaten Ghana ! Chances were there. That would have been better for our team ! Now we have to beat Ghana, no remis possible now !

...and best regards to Australia, the socceroos were so close to the next round

The FIFA should think about the referee situation, too bad for the sport

+1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000
On Saturday I watched a Sydney club rugby game on TV (this is two tiers below international competition level - crowd of a thousand on a
very good day) and the referee had access to a video playback to determine a critical decision. Meanwhile at the biggest international football event, FIFA can't countenance using a fourth official with the benefit of video technology to double-check contentious calls - such as the England "no-goal" and numerous red-cards, fouls and dives. Bizarre!
BTW Congrats to Germany - they deserved their win!!!

Watching Argentina spank Mexico was fun--especially in Denver, a lot of ****** chicanos around here today! Man, getting 3-0 at one point was just nuts. I could see the pride in the Argentinian's faces--they were beaming. And of course at several points the Mexican players looked quite furious which I totally understood. This is a really fun, emotional sport to watch. Wish I still played.
