$299 seems to be the going rate.

15 watts, 2 6V6 tubes in the power secton, a 12ax7 runs the digital front end.

Spend an extra $15 for the footswitch which allows you to switch channels and turn effects on and off. It has some great voicings (and 1 clunker, the AC30 emulation).

I also think the Vox AD 30 VT is a great little amp and it has a power scale to keep the volume down if needed.

I'm a bit off topic since I'm going to suggest you a transistor amp..

I had a problem similar to your few years ago when I had to buy a practice amp and I had to choose between a cheap valve amp or a 'luxury' transistor one. Obviously a valve amp is better but don't think that the others are so inferior expecially compared to a low budget version of famous all-valve amp.
I found the Orange Crush 30 incredibly better than all the others transistor amp I've tried, including the Vox Pathfinder. It's 30W rms so it's pretty loud, it has 10'' speaker, features a really great reverb and the 2010 year model (not mine) features also digital effects. I don't know the price in the US but here in Europe you can find it new for 200 euro.
I lent it for a small gig (with drummer and nasty keyboard) to a friend of mine, a 'vintage' fanatic with several AC30 (lucky man) and he bought it the next week (80 euro used).

Moreover, I've read that you have just started playing guitar but you are already planning to but a rick...I know what this means: you, like me, are affected by the marvellous guitar sickness! so consider that you will soon (TOO SOON!) have the necessity to buy a 'big' amp. So the less you spend for the practice amp the better for the future one!

That Orange Crush looks like a neat little amp. Built in tuner, has mp3 in jack and a headphone out jack which I like the sound of a lot. Thanks for all of the suggestions!

How does a Vox VT 30 sound with a Rick? It seems cheap enough and sounds like it can really bring out the Beatles sound for only $260...

A little battery-powered Pignose combined with a POD xt gives me a ton of flexibility that travels well. Plus you get connectivity for digital recording, etc. Both are readily available used for cheap.
