Ron.............................Wow!
Re: Rose Morris Advertisements 1964
That is a simply stunning picture Ron - thanks for posting it. The one you describe as a '67 Redburst second from right is intriguing - do you know if that "redburst" was a standard colour for Rose Morris exports/US special models in 1967?
Re: Rose Morris Advertisements 1964
There is a photo of a 1964 model 1997 in Redburst on page 31 of the Bacon and Day Rickenbacker Book. I don't think it's the same guitar, so there is more than one in this finish. I wouldn't call it a "standard" finish color.
PS A "Shaded Green" guitar is shown on the same page of that book. Different story there, and not mine to tell.![Wink ](./images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)

Hi Ron, That redbust is a lovely variation. I noted in Smith's book that a high proportion of the RM UK exports in '66 were Autumnglo with the balance the usual Fireglo but no other colours were mentioned. Obviously you have a very rare and beautiful bird there in a custom colour.....
Re: Rose Morris Advertisements 1964
I always thought the "redburst" was mainly a '66 shade, but see in the register a couple of 68's as well as the others mentioned here.
Are the 68's yours Ron?

Re: Rose Morris Advertisements 1964
Yes, they are. The '68 Redbursts -- a 366-12 and 365 OS -- are more "black cherry" color around the edges than the '67 1997, which is truly black. I'm still not sure if "Redburst" is the proper name for this finish -- in the Bacon and Day book it is referred to as "a dark-red to black sunburst," so I guess "Redburst" is close enough.wints wrote:I always thought the "redburst" was mainly a '66 shade, but see in the register a couple of 68's as well as the others mentioned here.

Hi Ron, it's difficult to tell with the limitations of cameras and so on but I think there must be at least 2 distinct shading variations here - the guitar you originally posted as redburst (2nd from right in group shot of 4 above) seems to be red all the way across i.e. very dark cherry red at sides and light red in the centre; whereas there also seems to be a more normal but dark Fireglo finish (dark sunburst?) which goes to dark cherry at the edges but from a more normal yellowish colour near the pick-ups - I have the latter on my late '67 370 pictured here.
