So, you mean, I won't be ostracized for having this? Phew!

The headstock on the Fender XII is the only thing about those guitars that turned me off buying one before I bought my first 360/12 in 1966. The Fender XII's almost looks like they have a toque on the headstock.

Having said that they are great sounding guitars.

I read a little today on the Fender XII. I have the Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass Greatest Hits record (yes, vinyl, LP, album) where the guitarist is holding his Fender XII. Neat!
Don't worry Brian there is plenty of time to get in on the fun, just find you one!!! They're out there!!!

Woah! Nice one.
I've got one which is apparently a '66, but it seems to have had a harder life than yours!*
I bought it in 1992(I think!) coz I couldn't get my fingers round a Ric back then. It's much more 'tinselly' than a Ric and the neck's more roomy. I can justify having both
*Actually I've just had another look- our guitars could have had the same original owner!

I also understand Clapton used on "Dance the Night Away" by Cream in an effort to counteract that whole 12 string Byrds craze they were having at the time.

Just given it a listen or two, and it certainly could be one of them. Got that hollow, between-the-pickups sound.
Sounds bugger all like The Byrds of course.

IIRC, Mitch Easter posted in another thread that Peter Buck's intro to So. Central Rain was done on a Fender XII.

Roy Wood of the Move used Fender 12s with great success. Listen to the Shazam album for more 12 string usage than most would dare.
