In fact, come to think of it, I can't recall playing it through any amp...

wints,
If you don't mind my asking, why haven't you been playing the RM 1999 through an amp all these years?
I think an amp could really help that bass cut through the mix. Especially a big one.

Steve,
I put the bass away in it's case back @ 1990 because of the higher action and set up. I didn't string it up again until a couple of years ago, and still haven't got around to firing it up. It resides back in my old town in the UK, and I am here in the States, so I only get to see it a couple of times a year...

I've got a 4001CS into Paul W for my Celtic bass project. I was actually thinking of getting it wired for Ric-O-Sound
while he is doing the work. Won't be able to let you know how it goes for awhile yet as I'm "in the queue". And I haven't
really decided if I am going to do it or not yet.

I had my RM in stereo for a time. You definately get more out of the Horseshoe that way, but in the end I just found it a bit of a pain having to carry around an extra lead (or amp)
On Re-issue basses the horse is so potent I think there would be little advantage to true stereo wiring. I would just split the mono signal if I wanted to run two amplifiers...

I agree that the horse is strong on the C64. When I play it stock through two amps (split with an A/B switchbox) the high to low distribution replicates the Squire sound from CTTE or Fragile. Used to go through a POD, but it seems to narrow the range and filter out low & high.

Thanks, wints. Enjoy it when you can.
