Hey Len, what month? Forum rules state that any Rick made in September of 1985 must be offered up to me.

Whew, I'm safe! The register says January 1985.

In answer to other questions, I could not take photos today, it was too cloudy to get good lighting. The bobbin on the horseshoe has silver colored pole pieces with slots for a flat bladed screwdriver. Is that what you wanted to know?

I didn't need to get this bass, as last year I bought Jeff's really nice 4003 JG. I was thinking I might offer one of them up for sale. But I spent most of today playing and comparing them, and they are different enough that I'll keep them both. At one time I liked Jetglo the best, but Mapleglo is where it's at.

Congrats, Len! that's just like my March '85 - identical!!! I'm the original owner - it will never leave me - these things are keepers. I've said it a long time ago, these early V's are the closest thing you'll ever get to a RM1999!

I'll post pics of mine tomorrow
cheers!

Keep them both! I like having my two Ricks, with one having a magnetic HS pickup in it and the other a hi-gain pickup.

Find out whether you have the .0047µf capacitor in line with the HS pickup, it does make a nice difference to have it on the HS pickup.

+1 Len, Congrats! I'd be interested in the ohm reading of the horseshoe coil.

Thinking the same thing here, John.
I'd like to here one of these with and without the cap.
