Welcome Geof,
What a great bass you have there. Nearly all original and with the horseshoes and bobbin, which is very rare to see. My old Dec '64 DL 837 was the same dark Fireglo, and the wear and mojo on that baby is very cool.
The main factor with most of these is the neck. Is it straight, and what's the action like? How are the truss rods? The best thing to do is put very light gauge strings on, and see what happens. I agree with Mark there about the string windings as well!
With original case, hopefully a $10K bass, maybe more...

Hey Ron, That IS bizarre isn't it? The pg is original...& no screw hole in the body. How the heck did that happen?

A rare prototype! RIC must have been experimenting with a special 7-screw PG series!

I suppose you've had plenty of time to chat while Shanghai'd at the airport! Best of luck getting out of there!

Thanks for all your interest and positive replies. The serial number is DL798. The actual colour is a little lighter than in the photos. The case is original as well but it's a little rough on each end. It still plays great and the neck is true.

Reminds me of Gerry's RM1999 which has the hole in the guard and the screw, but no hole drilled in the body!
Nice to hear it's still playing good Geof.
Apologies for posting this one again, but it does show the shades of Fireglo quite clearly. The '64 on the far left is by far the darker, and the '68 is next to it. A '71 next to that, with the two '73's in the foreground.
