sting's upright was not a rickenbacker though. it was a late '70's/early '80's electric using only enought body structure to hold the neck and strings, just as andy summers used the gittler skeleton guitar in another police vid. everyone was trying the minimalist vibe as was the chapman stick and steinberger.
