I know this is total sidebar, but that's one thing about Lennon that always bugged me is how he treated Julian. He made such a big deal about how special Sean was, got this life together to be a good father, etc... meanwhile Julian is SOL. Like the musical genius tag isn't true 100% all the time (there are some serious lapses in quality), the total-nice-guy or total-nasty-guy is also not true. He became a peacenik after being a violent teddy boy, he became a doting father after being an absent one, he became a husband after being an abuser. A person starts somewhere and ends somewhere, as long as the trajectory is upwards we can call it development. Lennon is not unique in his social upbringing or his violent responses to them. I know several people who have tread the same flawed path, but they didn't write Strawberry Fields. He was special. Yeah, in general --- he wasn't a very nice dude, and it always bothers me to see people elevate him to god-like status.
