IIRC the footswitch simply switches between channels or switches the reverb off and on. I did not buy a footswitch so I cannot tell you how well it works. There is not a tremelo channel on the VR. That did not bother me because I never used that function on my old amp at all. I am not a big fan of the tremelo effect.

As you can see the Tonelab ST has a foot control on the pedal which can easily be assigned as a volume control.

As a guitar player I tend to throttle back my volume for lead/rhythm using the controls on the guitar and when I need to increase volume for a lead solo then I simply roll the volume knob up a tad. When I play a Strat or my V64 (it has been re-wired to provide a master volume control) I use my little finger on my right hand to make that adjustment. When I play my 330 or my 350........ well I have to roll two controls forward a notch or two.

I believe the Vox I played was a CC2, and I wasn't a big fan of it either. I wasn't getting the cleans I wanted out of it, and to boot I think there was something wrong with the top boost channel. The fact that NCM burns in the amps, replaces the microphonic tubes, and does a good inspection before sending the amp may justify the few hundred extra dollars stacked on the price. The big website are offering the VoxHW's now for a good 300$ or so less and they price beat eachtoher. That could potentially knock another couple hundred off the price. However, I do like dealing with real people who own and operate THEIR business. That's why I enjoyed working with Chris at PotC, and why I'll probably end up going with NCM when I can justify dropping the cast to the lady...may take a few months after this last purchase
