I use blue masking tape, the kind you use when you're painting, and a sharpie. I've never had any issues with the tape coming off even after copious gig schleppage...and I play 150-200 shows/year.

I think I was able to buy a box of 100 for about $6.00 (Office Depot online has boxes of 1,000(!) but I am sure that they come in smaller quantities). No sticky residue, no worries that they might fall off.

Just get some really big stencils and some red glossy spray paint, dont really worry about overspray because its just a case, then........................... :shock:

Seriously, I use the label maker idea. I stand my cases verticaly, and put the label on the end of the case. That way you can just walk up, look down and you'll know.
