Nice grab, Mitch - these are the best Lesters that Gibson has to offer! I love Les Pauls and I've had a few stellar R9s over the last few years but the economy forced me to sell. I'm back in the market and have been looking for just the right one; I'm really particular. Here are a couple that really stood head and shoulders above the others:

This was a 2004 model that was Tom Murphy aged. I kept it completely stock because it was just a monster in every aspect. It really hurt to part w/ this one because this was the guitar that I'd spent 20 years looking for in terms of coloring, figure, neck profile and tone.

This one was a rare 2001 Murphy R9 that was one of 40 made that year w/ a documented Brazilian rosewood fretboard. Had a tone like Dickey Betts' "Fillmore" Les Paul and a playability that was off the hook; AND it weighed a mere 8 POUNDS, non chambered or weight relieved. As good as it was though, the 2004 smoked it; I got $10K for it when I finally sold it in 2008.

Thanks guys! Thanks for posting photos of your beautiful "Bursts". I really love mine. The finish has lots of little cracks in it but I think it looks cool.
