This reminds me of people 40 to 50 years ago who took their new car and had custom seat covers made for it. That way when it went to the junk yard the seats were in perfect condition. Play and use it. I don't see the point in just collecting guitars. I am not saying beat it up but if you can't gig with it, what's the point?

I have to agree 100% with Ken's statement. Play it and look after it. It's not that hard to do if you think about it.

Gig it! Just be conscientious of it's value and protect it as best as you can.

I don't think anyone in their right mind would dare mess with someone that has a 'Lemmy'.

Life's journey is not to arrive at the pearly gates safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid up sideways, worn out and tattered, exclaiming man.... what a wild ride!

Capable of producing superior results? Only if they were in my bag. These things were so expensive, many irreplaceable, I was afraid to expose them to the rigors of an ordinary production. They always stayed in my studio awaiting that 'special' shoot. I eventually sold them, hopefully to someone who would use them.
Want to buy a 50/1 Noctilux in mint condition?

Play your next gig like it's your last one.
Play the bass that makes you sound the best.
They were meant to be played.

A guitar that never gets gigged is like a dog that never gets walked. How sad! In my mind, you just gotta' gig it...

I say play it.
Presently, I am in a 50s band, so I don't use my Ricks to gig, but I am working in a Beatles tribute that will require a 4001C64. It would be crazy for me not to use it! So I will.

I almost bought a Contax 50/1.2 Planar 60th Jahre though. It as going to be a mate for my 85/1.2 Planar 50th Jahre.

The guy who bought my 85/1.2 was an Alpa dealer in Moscow. Man, you haven't lived until you've done a transaction involving a bank transfer with a guy from Moscow!

Now, Alpas are seriously expensive cameras! I love some of the cameras they have made these past few decades.

Play it. Don't do anything stupid, but get out there and enjoy it. It isn't going to do anyone any good under a bed - except the future owner who gigs it.

Exactly right, Scott. People let their lives pass then by with valuables or cherished items that they don't really touch, use or see because they keep them under the bed or in a closet for "safe keeping"....then someday it's someone else's and THEY get to enjoy it!

Get it insured and play it out. People need to see and hear these in action...just don't smash anything with it and you'll be fine.

I dont worry about dings and scratches, im a player not a collector , investor, or reseller, and not knocking them, I can respect those who are, so my preference is to take it out, gig it and if it gets dinged, its cool, im not going to loose any sleep over it...."HAPPY RICKEN"
