Yep, Someday :)

Someday I will by myself cheap midi footpedals (maybe the doepfler for 140 euro or a Roland PK-5) and connect this to my macbook or my iPad (did someone say Korg MS20?) and have fun. :)

Ooh, do you use the Bassballs much? I discovered that it produced a sound I'd heard that I particularly like and have been thinking about getting one, but just wondering if it'a a bit of a one trick pony.
It IS a one-trick pony, but if that's the trick you want...

I use the OD section on my SVT 5 for a mild drive sound, the SVT 5's inbuilt octaver.... oh and a Big Muff Bass and a Morley Power Wah for those Cliff moments. :D

I have gone through a whole lot of effects over the decades; these days the only thing I use, effects-wise, occasionally, is the compressor in my Universal Audio LA-610 Mk II.

Diamond Bass Compressor, EH Pog 2, Tech 21 VT Bass, old Korg tuner and a pencil. Please disregard the non-Ric content!

None. For rock, garage, jazz, blues, surf, and fusion, with a Ric or a Fender, flats or rounds, pick or fingers, for the last 36 years it's always been the bass > cable (sometimes wireless) > good amp (usually flat). For a different sound I use a fretless.

coolingitdown wrote:Aphex Punch Factory (this is what compression is supposed to sound like!). Joshua, does the compression still work when using only the XLR output? I tried that once when running direct to the PA (no amp whatsoever on stage, just a PA monitor), but it seemed as though the volume and gain knobs were useless in this configuration, so I just went back to running 1/4" out to an XLR converter.
There is a push button on the back of the Punch Factory to select whether the compression effects the XLR or not.

My signal chain goes:

X2 wireless receiver>Sadowsky pre-amp (side chain to Boss tuner)>EBS octave divider>Digitech Bass Synth Wah>HBE Hematoma overdrive>Boss bass chorus>Punch Factory optical compressor (also used as DI to our splitter snake). My amp only serves as a stage monitor/shaker as we are on in-ear monitors and that's all I really hear.

DOD FX-82 compressor (not really effect in my opinion) and sometimes Ibanez Bass Stack overdrive. I had Morley wah and Yamaha chorus back in 1990's but I never really used them.
I'm planning to buy Aguilar Agro. For some reason I have a feeling it could be better for my needs than my current Ibanez overdrive. Don't get me wrong, Ibanez Bass Stack is great but it fades some of the lowest end and that's an unwanted feature when used with my "Dark Starred" Starfire. With my Rick I don't use anything else but little compression. I like it as it is.

Yeah, I think you want the "Wet" setting for compression to come through the XLR. Or else "Post"... I forget.

Line 6 M13,Dunlop Bass wah,Ernie Ball vol pedal.
Plus an Emu Systems Extreme Lead synth module driven by Roland PK5 pedals all in one unit I built for a few hundred quid (cheaper than a new Moog Taurus).
