Are you serious? What are the odds of that coincidence?
What coincidence? I've got a 4001 with serial number 1997, but my 1997 isn't 4001.
My ES-16 is 911, but I sold my 911 back in 2004, amid much confusion...

HD 730 is the serial number.
The H stands for 1968
The D stands for April.
The 730 means that this was the 730th instrument Rickenbacker made that year... (Don't we just love consecutive serial numbers??)
Rickenbacker no longer does this BTW the last three digits all randomized now...
Still an amazing guitar with a great story attached!!

Ok...i knew the guitar was made in April 1968, and thanks to the great people here I know now it was the 730th instrument made that year, and the model was a 370F. I remember when I first got it how WHITE the maple was...and now it's a beautiful warm yellow patina.
Thanks again for all the information

Another corker. It would be so nice if we had a 360/370F reissue year. Takers anyone?

Yes, but only if it were the earlier version from the '50s. I'd be happy with a 330F RI.

I agree, the original version looks better. I sign up for a Version I/50s 360F
