Yes, in fact, they could be considered "one-offs", as the hand shaping often required shortening as well as narrowing, scooping, and all sorts of shenanigans so that the TRC would fit between the slots on the headstock and still display the Rickenbacker script in its entirety.k43rover wrote: Either way this early pattern short TRC is obviously very rare...
Lovin the bound sound hole there.collin wrote:JakeK wrote:
Collin, your own 1993/12 has a TRC very similar to Lennon's, if I remember right? .
Yep.
Mine is October, 1964---I think by the November batch, they had the pointy TRCs, so mine would have been among the last to get the "stubby" TRC (mine also had a trapeze tailpiece, originally, and R-tailpieces showed up near November '64 as well.) I dig the short TRCs-- kinda cool and different.

Sounds like the right call to me Collin...do you have some nice before and after pics for us to drool over?collin wrote:IvanMunoz wrote: Lovin the bound sound hole there.
Yeah? It's gone now.![]()
It wasn't original, and was lightly fixed to the edges.....I took it off right after getting the guitar (shortly after these pics were taken).
