I believe Fender started the relic concept when Keef wanted a "new" Tele to take on tour that looked like his road worn one..

Spelling matters, and it's a silly idea.
Personally, if someone wants to buy a brand new beat up guitar it's their business; I don't care. But when people start using all sorts of painful-to-read awfully constructed neologisms, then I get upset.
Kudos, PW; I agree, your point taken; "relicking" is the mechanically correct spelling. It still looks funny to the ey though, for the reasons you pointed out. .. but it's also still fun to poke humorous jabs at. . . just b/c I find the whole concept a bit silly.
I will relic anyone's new guitar for a very modest fee; just send it to me for two years. . .
