I think this one looks great! The more photos I see, the better I like the idea. If I'm around, it's probably best not to have any 600 series guitars in the same room as any cutting tools. . . . Pointy horns just look more rock n' roll!

Mike Campbell has a '60s 615 that was sawed up to look like a 325*. No pic handy.

*EDIT: More accurately, sawed up to have two pointy cutaways.

Have one in my Long After Dark songbook that shows the guitar in full detail. The middle pickup was kinda crooked compared to the other two.

This re-cut looks very similar to an Electro ES-16 and a Rick Combo 1000.

That Mike Campbell modified JetGlo is pictured in that issue of Vintage Guitar magazine, a year or two ago, with Tom Petty on the cover holding a FireGlo Rickenbacker. That is a great article about the amazing guitars in the Petty/Campbell collection(s).

So, there is enough wood to create the upper horn fitting to the small one. Seems to be possible to flesh out a beautifully created shape. - Some already have done it. That was my question. Mission accomplished.

It is not against the 620. In midnight blue surly a very fine guitar for me.

It is just wondering what to do else with the existing original stuff.
To cut the horn is just one idea. - The full length of this guitar is made of one piece. What's beside this - it could be changed...

All other models do not offer this.

I am a fan of the cresting wave myself. But my fav model shape of all time is the 850 Combo, and these modified 600 series bodies get awful darn close! Think if I found a really beat 600 I'd go for the body wing mod to these shapes. I like them a lot. With the thin body of the 600 these would make killer looking instruments.

+1 on the dual pointy horns rock more!

It seems that the 620 is too thin to make an 850, but you could always just take both wings off and make a thicker 850 body, and preserve the neck through, or most of it. You would lose that delicious neck heel that the 850's had, though. Also the 850 necks were exposed on the back, so they were glued on 3 sides(4 if you count the butt end).

I don't know if the 850 shape is the same as the 320's, if it is, then it's probably copy protected. Better off making an 800 from scratch as that body shape and it's headstock aren't protected AFAIK.

Yeah, I wouldn't make a perfect replica; I'd make mine a cross between a Combo 850 with a Bigsby, a Hawaiian, and a Susana Hoffs style model: German carved top, but no HS p/up or Combo Bridge, and I'd have a slim, 60s style headstock, Bigsby, and all deluxe features-triangle inlays and binding.
