You know the old saying, "It's easier to get forgiveness after the fact than permission before the fact," well, since I was being denied "permission" in the form of my band letter, I was and still am willing to risk being found out, even after all these years. And, by the way, even though retired for many years, he still edits the state school band directors magazine, and came to one of my jazz band concerts last year.
