My homeowners insurance company, Fireman's Fund, has insured my musical instruments for "hobby", i.e., non-professional, purposes, at a very reasonable rate - $0.003125 (that's a little over three-tenths of a penny) per dollar; no appraisals required, no specific schedule (list) of instruments. Due to a violin and a grand piano I have a pretty high insured value (but they might be thinking that it is pretty hard and uncommon for someone to lose a grand piano!). That rate is for adding it on to a homeowners policy, not a renters policy - pricing on a renters policy may be different, although I don't know why it would be. It assumes that I am not using the instruments professionally - the rate would be substantially higher if I played for money, undoubtedly because my risk is a lot lower since I presumably won't be taking them out of my house very often. I recommend that you first ask about adding it on to your homeowners (or renters) policy if you don't gig for money. The cost for me is really low.
For comparison, "scheduled" (specifically listed), but not appraised, jewelry costs me more than three times the cost of musical instrument coverage per dollar of value. YMMV, though.

Thanks, guys, I'll have to look into Heritage Insurance for my guitars.

For anyone that does not know, make sure you have pictures of everything you want covered by your insurance, and make sure the pictures are taken in such a way it proves they were in your home when the pictures were taken.
This was very strong advice from a professional insurance adjuster that was looking at my house for storm and hail damage and saw I had musical instruments and equipment. This goes for ALL personal items that you may need to claim like big TVs, computers, you name it.

Hi guys. I have a 325c58.
I gather that Rickenbacker no longer make this guitar anymore. I am now as a result almost scared to play mine (well not that scared). I am no expert but wondered if anyone could confirm the current (and perhaps expected) value of this guitar.
I would never for a second dream of selling it but I do need to insure it. I can't imagine not being able to play it, or if something happened to it, I can't imagine not being able to replace it.
I guess it might be prudent to know how much it would cost to make one of these from scratch (envisaging the worst case scenario that I couldn't find a replacement if the worst happened).
Any thoughts anyone has on this would be great.

Our entire household is insured with property insurance against theft, fire or flood.
If my entire Rick collection goes up in flames or gets stolen I get the full insured value.
I'll need to pay $200 for any claim (not per item, just per claim) and that's it.
I do pay about $500 yearly for the insurance and a few guitars ago I crossed a certain line and had to install burgers alarm.
My camera equipment and my wife's engagement ring is covered with "all around insurance" so it is covered outside our house too.

Hi Liam and welcome!
You can check our pricelist:

This pricelist reflects actual ebay deals and gives quite a nice statistical representation of the value of each guitar.
According to the pricelist a 325c58 worth around $2600

Thanks for this. My only concern was that as the guitar isn't being made anymore they may be slightly more difficult to get hold of in future. The value now may therefore not be the value in future. I guess I will just have to insure for the top end of what one is worth and review the cover in a years time.

+1! I worked in the Fire and Flood restoration business, and State Farm is #1-by far!
