Are you actually going to use the converter comb to pull down the octave strings -- while playing?
Good man!

Oh yes! I employ the functionality of my '67 366 all the time since it works so well. And since that guitar is "pledged" to another forumite

I thought I'd go ahead and get a head start on an affordable replacement.
BTW if anyone else is interested in doing this, let me know, and I'd be happy to help.

Awesome, Jdog. Looks like you're all set! I know you're a huge fan of the converter combs. How does this compare to your old '67?
Thank God the '87 V64 is with me

As expected, adding the comb added a lot of acoustic shimmer, so they sound very similar now. The biggest sonic difference is probably the pickups. Since this v64 is a '98, it has the "hot" toasters, thus, isn't quite as bright as old originals or recent scatterwounds. But it's still nice and punchy. Haven't gotten around to running it through the JangleBox yet, but will soon. I am taking tomorrow off for a nice three-day weekend out of town with Shana, so won't get to it until next week. I play live on Tuesday, so probably then.

Nicely done--that looks great! Excellent conversion, not to mention brave.
Hit me up when you sell it.
