I upgraded my '62 reissue MIJ to a set of Seymour Duncan Antiquity II pickups and added a Mastery Bridge, which rings out like nothing else. The guy who sold me mine said it has one of the best playing necks of any Fender that he's used. I love it and wouldn't swap it even for a vintage one.

Here it is being used by Mr Ricky Maymi: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBYdhwC4 ... re=related
Very cool! I love the ultra red tort on the MIJ's. 8)

Congrats on your JM!

I've owned a couple--my first American-made guitar was a '62AVRI. I then stumbled into a good deal with a CIJ '62RI that I mod'd with AV pups. Eventually sold them both, then picked up another '62AVRI, the one I still own.

I love the offset body shape--very comfortable to play.

If you're of a mind, try a set of flats--I use TI Jazz/Swing Flat 11s on mine--great feel and a wonderful, warm, rich tone.
