If I may......I'd put some masking tape on the rear of the pickguard or paint the backside so the routes don't show through. Just my personal preference as it always distracts me.

I've been curious about it for a while.

The PLEK process is a computer-controlled fret leveling process. To be honest, I was pretty skeptical of it until the first time I played a bass that had been PLEK-ed. The frets are all perfectly even and the action can go super low (if you like it low!). It adds a little bit of money to a refret, but you can also get it done to a bass/guitar that is not in need of a full refret. I think the process won't work for phenolic and other non-wood boards.

MUCH appreciated. I prefer SUPER LOW ACTION.

I play with a very light touch and some of my basses are unplayable to those who might be considered heavy handed!
On other basses that require me to dig in a bit, I have the action a tad higher, but I STILL like L O W!

If you like low, you'll love PLEK! The action on my '72 and '73 that have been PLEK-ed is twice as low as any other basses I play. I have a heavy hand, so I usually have my action on the high side. PLEK has changed that!

Perhaps a shop close to you has a machine?
