Yup!coolhandjjl wrote:What's the giveaway? The holes where the strings pass through?weemac wrote:The overpriced eBay one has an aftermarket tailpiece....
I had noticed this too, but they are actuially all the same tuner. The octave string tuners have had their keys replaced with ones for Schaller guitars. The Schaller M4 tuner is actually a 12:1 guitar tuner to begin with that has been adapted to bass, and as such is not my faveorite tuner. I prefer the factory 4003 tuner for the root string and Grover Sta-Tites for the octaves.dminer wrote:Any one else notice that the ebay MG s8 has 4 of the smaller style tuners...I've never seen that on a standard 4003s8. I kinda like it though...nice mod and the headstock doesn't look as clunky as my regular 4003s8...hmmm.
The is my Wilder original!psychomatthias wrote:This is listed in the Register.jdogric12 wrote:How bout a pic of the headstock on your conversion?
huh would be pretty cool to see a cresting wave potato head. Got any pics?aceonbass wrote:When I originally started designing the headstock that I use, I found that the traditional 4001 headstock wouldn't work with the "big & little" tuner arrangement that I like to use. RIC pretty much got it right the first time with the early 4005/8 and two prototype 4008's. I refined the design so that the tuners were now all in a straight line with more symetry in the overall design. I also have a version with the traditional 4000 series cresting wave at the end.
ah well I guess I'll just need to be patient thenaceonbass wrote:I do have pics, but they're not my basses, and I know that one of the two owners wants to be the one to show it here first.
The eBay one is about $2000 too much. AND it's boring old Mapleglo.rickenbrother wrote:+1ajish4 wrote:Dane is the man to talk to about the conversion.
He has every detail worked out.
Dane does a great job!
As far as the 4003S/8 in the link goes, I know these hold a high value, especially if they are in nice condition, but that one is overpriced.
